Compensation:
The anticipated salary range for this position is $94,600.00 to $130,100.00 annually. Actual pay will be determined based on relevant experience, skills, and educational background. This role also qualifies for an incentive bonus.
Role Summary:
The Senior Electrical Controls Engineer is responsible for providing electrical controls engineering support for plant operations and executing capital projects within JM's manufacturing facilities. This position entails developing, defining, coordinating, justifying, implementing, and managing a diverse array of industrial electrical and control system projects. Responsibilities include creating scope documents, engineering calculations, design specifications, cost estimates, schedules, project justifications, and training documentation for Johns Manville facilities across North America. The engineer will also serve as a technical resource for operations and maintenance teams, assisting in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to plant power and control systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct electrical control systems engineering for various projects and plant support with minimal supervision.
- Prepare and review technical specifications for electrical equipment and process projects.
- Support the Corporate Electrical Group in the evaluation and application of corporate specifications and standards.
- Assist facilities in manufacturing operations and the execution of electrical safety initiatives.
- Oversee project management for multiple assignments concurrently, ensuring timely completion.
- Ensure adherence to technical specifications and contracts for equipment and services related to plant maintenance and projects.
- Maintain effective communication with management and project stakeholders regarding project status, challenges, and modifications.
- Coordinate and manage supplier and contractor activities for both on-site and off-site project support, including commissioning, startup, and training for plant personnel.
- Develop bid request documentation, supplier lists, and bid evaluations, providing recommendations for procurement.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, schedules, scopes, deliverables, execution, and reporting to achieve expected project benefits.
- Coordinate and oversee external engineering resources and consultants as necessary.
- Provide support for plant operations in root cause failure analysis and the development of corrective action plans.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering discipline, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in control systems engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven expertise in electrical and control system engineering, with the ability to devise solutions for basic project and process engineering challenges. Strong knowledge of DCS, Allen-Bradley PLC, and HMI applications, including programming and enterprise control network communications.
- Demonstrated project management skills and experience managing projects ranging from $50k to $2MM.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and collaborate effectively with internal and external engineering resources.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to completing tasks and identifying improvement opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the engineering and implementation of 480V power distribution systems, including switchgear, power distribution panels, and motor control centers, as well as higher voltage systems (13,800V, 4160V, 2300V).
