Job Title: Nurse (40 Hour)

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at the Hartford Regional Center in Newington, CT. As a Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to individuals with developmental disabilities.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing the nursing process, performing assessments, and ensuring quality care through observation and evaluation. You will also be required to document nursing interventions, distribute and maintain records of controlled drugs, and maintain a clean and safe environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Independently implement the nursing process with individuals, including carrying out physician orders regarding diet, medication, and treatment.
  • Perform assessments, changes dressings, and monitors and ensures quality care through observation and evaluation.
  • Reports on physiological and mental health status of individuals, documents nursing interventions on medical records, and distributes and maintains records of controlled drugs.
  • Maintains records and makes reports, makes decisions in routine cases, and instructs individuals, staff, and family members regarding treatments, nursing plans, and related individual care issues.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Experience with basic nursing skills, including but not limited to: providing medication and nutrition via G-tube or J-tube, diabetic care, respiratory treatments, colostomy, cecostomy, and urostomy care, wound care, and catheterization.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Experience with infection control practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make decisions in routine cases.
