Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate RN Unit Manager to lead our nursing team at Katherine Luther Residential. This is a full-time opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents.

About the Role

The RN Unit Manager will be responsible for managing and supervising the daily operations of the nursing unit, ensuring high-quality resident care and maintaining a positive work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Establishes daily priorities and tasks, communicates with nursing staff, and assists with resident care needs.
  • Conducts daily rounds with other team members to observe and assess resident care, needs, and outcomes.
  • Develops assignments for resident care based on unit needs, initiates Interdisciplinary Care Plans, and ensures accurate MDS completion.
  • Maintains skills necessary to monitor, oversee, and assist with medications, therapeutic treatments, lab work, and other clinical procedures.
  • Evaluates individual work performance through observation, evaluation of resident outcomes, and professionalism displayed.
  • Monitors emergency equipment readiness, staff training, and effective handling of resident emergencies.
  • Communicates pertinent information to alternate shifts, physicians, and departments.
  • Reviews medical records and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Adheres to infection control standards and reports complaints, grievances, incidents, and accidents.
  • Promotes resident rights and dignity, maintains a consumer-friendly environment, and responds promptly to call lights.
  • Ensures timely meal delivery, a pleasant dining experience, and feeding assistance programs.
  • Prevents resident abuse, neglect, and mistreatment, and relates to ancillary staff to meet resident needs.
  • Develops training protocols, completes performance evaluations, and ensures staff adherence to job descriptions and facility policies.
  • Disciplines staff as needed, utilizing HR and DON resources.
  • Assists with new employee orientation, sets up mentor schedules, and oversees completion of orientation.
  • Maintains continuing education opportunities for staff, works with Staff Development, and ensures compliance with state-mandated in-services.
  • Reports to the DON and participates in environmental rounds, developing corrective actions.
  • Monitors CMS Quality Indicators, formulates plans of action, and improves resident outcomes and decreases quality indicators.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of a registered professional nursing school (BSN and Masters in Nursing Administration preferred).
  • Current NYS Registered Professional Nurse License.
  • Two (2) years of Geriatric Nursing or Long Term Care Supervisory experience.

Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary range of $65,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience, plus excellent benefits, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
