Description

Under general supervision, the Utility Maintenance Specialist role is responsible for assisting in the upkeep and repair of water distribution systems, wastewater management, and stormwater services.

Compensation is based on experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensures all operational fluids, tires, and lighting are functional, and that necessary equipment and supplies are prepared; collaborates with the crew leader to gather parts and tools for tasks.
  • Conducts daily operations by coordinating with the crew leader and traveling to job sites to unload equipment; inspects work areas and prepares tools; identifies valves and hydrants.
  • Maintains the cleanliness and functionality of service vehicles, including dump trucks, backhoes, trailers, and tools; checks fuel levels, tire conditions, lighting, and fluids at the end of each shift; parks vehicles appropriately.
  • Provides training and assistance to fellow staff members as required.
  • Supports crew leaders in various tasks as needed.
Qualifications and Training
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is mandatory.
  • At least one (1) year of general maintenance experience is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications Required
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain prior to employment, a valid Texas driver's license.
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain within six (6) months of employment, a valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) with tanker endorsement.
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain within one (1) year of employment, a Class D Basic Water Operations license issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
