About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. As a School Special Education Teacher, you will provide individualized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs): Create and implement personalized education plans for students with special needs.
  • Provide Direct Instruction and Support: Offer one-on-one and group instruction to students in various settings, including inclusive classrooms and resource rooms.
  • Collaborate with Educational Staff: Work with general education teachers, parents, and other school staff to develop and implement effective support strategies.
  • Monitor and Evaluate Student Progress: Collect and analyze data to assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Provide Individual and Group Support: Address academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students through individual and group support.
  • Participate in Multidisciplinary Team Meetings: Collaborate with other professionals to develop and implement student support plans.
  • Conduct Assessments: Determine students' strengths, needs, and eligibility for special education services.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Keep up-to-date records of student progress, interventions, and services provided.
  • Ensure Compliance: Adhere to federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines related to special education.
  • Participate in Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Teaching License: Possess a valid Michigan teaching license in Special Education.
  • Education: Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Experience: Have a minimum of 2 years of experience providing special education services in a school setting.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Possess strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Data Collection and Analysis: Be proficient in collecting and analyzing data to inform instruction.
  • Ability to Work Independently: Demonstrate the ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively.
