Nuclear Medicine Technologist Job Description

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist plays a vital role in the Radiology department at Singing River Health System Hospital. This position requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures utilizing radiopharmaceuticals
  • Exercise professional judgment in the performance of services and apply principles of radiation protection
  • Operate equipment requiring detailed concentration for extended periods of time
  • Stock and maintain an adequate inventory of supplies
  • Ensure quality control of procedures and quality assurance of equipment
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in a health field required
  • Graduate of an approved Nuclear Radiology Technology Program required
  • Current licensure as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist, RT Nuclear Medicine Technologist, or a Medical Radiation Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board, Inc. (NMTCB)
  • Licensure by the Mississippi State Department of Health
  • BCLS certification by the end of position orientation
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Work Environment:

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to communicable diseases, CRT equipment, blood and/or body fluids, and electromagnetic energy.

The ideal candidate will possess superior customer service skills, professional etiquette, and proficient knowledge of computer software and office technology.
