About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Pre-Installation Technician II to join our team at Canon Solutions America, Inc. in Livermore, CA. As a Pre-Installation Technician II, you will be responsible for performing comprehensive pre-install and setup of all assigned machines per CSA Pre-Install/Configuration shop standards.

You will evaluate and prepare used equipment per documented used processes, continue to pursue progressive development of technical skills via Canon training and on-the-job training, and assist in other Logistics areas as assigned.

As a Pre-Installation Technician II, you will work closely with the CUSA Technical Support Help Desk, as needed, in troubleshooting and following direction given by the Help Desk.

Your Impact
  • Perform assigned configurations each day at or above the established benchmark for the model.
  • Maintain appropriate monthly average labor time for 'S' and, as needed, 'C' calls, dependent on assigned workload and availability.
  • Achieve monthly accountability expectations for the position (based on shop tech matrix).
  • Maintain a constant high level of work quality and consistent conformance with published standards.
  • Maintain all technical information and Canon property assigned.
  • Be available to work overtime, as required, which may include weekends.
  • Complete repairs and maintenance on used equipment within the RDC goals (for either transfer triage/evaluation or for final preparation for local delivery).
  • Stay current on Canon Technical Certifications on current model lines, subject to pre-install or repair in the Pre-Install Shop.
  • Communicate well with fellow team members, internal customers, supervisors, and other internal departments regarding the timely completion of assigned work related to pre-installs and/or preparation of used machines.
  • Assist and/or cross-train in other Logistics functions as assigned.
  • Consistently follow all documented shop processes and procedures.
  • Maintain shop cleanliness and security.
About You: The Skills & Expertise You Bring

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Pre-Installation Technician II with a strong background in electronics, mechanical, and technical skills. You should have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience, plus 1 to 2 years of related experience.

  • Degree in Electronics, or equivalent training in Military/Trade School/Industry.
  • Completes technical certifications on MFDs within segments 1-6 (Online Pre-Reqs and classroom training) within two years of promotion.
  • At least 1 year Electrical/Mechanical industry experience, or at least three months hands-on pre-install experience as a temporary employee.
  • Good working knowledge of personal computers, general, and office application software.
  • Capable of accessing E-support via a computer and using other online tools.
  • Capable of updating System Software on Canon connected devices.
  • Demonstrates a willingness and is successful at working in a team environment.
  • Demonstrates a positive work attitude.
  • Capable of following Canon shop procedures and processes with minimal instruction.
  • Good working knowledge of networking with proven ability to connect Ethernet-capable devices to the network.
  • Working knowledge and aptitude on all current Canon MFDs, including diagnostic and troubleshooting aspects.
  • Ability to learn new concepts and apply acquired knowledge.
  • Good logical thinking ability.
  • Strong technical and non-technical communication skills.
  • Must meet or exceed minimum performance standards for productivity and quality.
  • Demonstrate appropriate level of technical knowledge, skills, and learning ability.
  • Proficient in configuration of MFDs within segments 1-7.
  • Must be in position and show consistent performance for minimum of 1 year, after certifications, prior to consideration for promotion.
  • Travel to support other RDCs as assigned (valid driver's license and acceptable driving record necessary).
