Skilled Carpenter

This Skilled Carpenter role at JKV is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the construction, alteration, and repair of wooden structures and equipment. As a skilled craftsman, you will be responsible for performing skilled carpentry tasks, including installing partitions, ceilings, doors, and locks, as well as making cabinets, counters, bookcases, desks, screen doors, window sashes, bulletin boards, moldings, and other wooden articles.

• Assist residents and John Knox Village associates to ensure completion of work orders.
• Perform skilled bench work in carpenter shop operating power saws, planers, and other standard carpentry and cabinet-making tools, and power-driven woodworking equipment.
• Rough in and trim of commercial and residential remodeling and new construction.
• Participate in environmental training and respirator usage as needed.
• Available on-call for emergencies, rotating weekends and evenings, and for snow removal as needed.

• A minimum 3 years of carpentry trade experience required.
• Minimum of 12 training and in-service hours required annually.
• Must have knowledge of safety precautions and hazards of the carpentry trade.
• Must complete asbestos awareness training within first six months.
• Must have knowledge of concrete flatwork.
