About The Job

The Direct Support Professional Community Habilitation/Respite plays a vital role in supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at The Kelberman Center. This dynamic role involves implementing and monitoring individualized habilitation plans, promoting independence, inclusion, and quality of life for our clients.

Responsibilities
  • Implement and monitor Individual Habilitation plans for people receiving services through the OPWDD Home and Community Based Waiver Program.
  • Provide transportation for individuals as required to carry out goals and services outlined in their Habilitative Plan.
  • Deliver direct habilitation services to individuals, assessing appropriateness of plan development, progress/regression, and continued appropriateness.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of individuals, maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
Requirements

To succeed in this challenging yet rewarding role, you must have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Up to 1 year of experience preferred, although relevant education and training may be substituted.
  • The ability to make independent decisions when circumstances require it.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of software applications.
Work Environment and Physical Demands

This role requires occasional exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, or spills/splashes from these substances. You must also be able to stand, walk, sit, and remain stationary for extended periods, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds.
