Job Title: Police Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team at the Village of Oak Park. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order, preventing crimes, and enforcing traffic regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patrol designated areas to preserve law and order and prevent crimes
  • Respond to public service calls and complaints, including domestic disturbances and property crimes
  • Collect, process, and present evidence, including fingerprints and physical evidence
  • Enforce traffic laws and ordinances, and issue warnings and citations
  • Direct traffic at emergency situations and special events
  • Investigate traffic accidents and conduct investigations of serious injury and fatality traffic accidents
  • Cooperate with other law enforcement agencies in matters relating to the apprehension of offenders and the investigation of offenses
  • Prepare reports on arrests made, activities performed, and unusual incidents observed
  • Investigate crimes, gather and preserve evidence, and testify in court
Requirements:
  • Two years of law enforcement experience
  • Possession of an Associate's degree or successful completion of sixty (60) semester hours at an accredited college or university
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and a police officer certificate
Working Conditions:

Work in an emergency peace control environment, with exposure to dangerous persons, firearms, bodily fluids, and noise. Must be able to run, walk, crawl, climb, stop, and lift. Work in inclement weather conditions.
