Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Massachusetts General Hospital. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting the pharmacy team in the preparation and dispensing of medications, as well as maintaining the cleanliness and sterility of the IV room and medical storage areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and dispense medications, including sterile products, under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Manage and maintain inventory of medications and supplies, including ordering and receiving shipments.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and sterility of the IV room and medical storage areas.
  • Assist in the training of pharmacy staff in hazardous and non-hazardous compounding, medication handling, and preparation.
  • Participate in the semi-annual physical inventory of all pharmaceutical products.
  • Identify, segregate, and log expired medications and complete electronic waste transactions.
  • Monitor and report on pharmacy quality assurance activities to meet the requirements of USP , , and in pharmacy keeper.
Requirements
  • Current pharmacy technician licensure by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Current national pharmacy technician certification - PTCB.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of hospital-based experience preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Daily exposure to the mental/emotional stress related to the oncology experience(s) of patients/families.
  • Risk of exposure to hazardous materials, known carcinogens, and risk of physical injury.
  • Able to lift 20 lbs.
  • Capable of standing or sitting for extended periods of time.
