Position Overview:

The Public Works Maintenance Worker is responsible for executing a range of maintenance tasks for the Haltom City Public Works Department. This role involves the operation and upkeep of various departmental tools and machinery, along with additional related responsibilities as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts repairs, maintenance, and installation of essential infrastructure components such as water mains, service lines, storm drainage systems, valves, water meters, fire hydrants, and irrigation systems.
  • Utilizes specialized equipment to inspect storm drains and identify underground utilities as required.
  • Engages in landscaping activities including mowing, weed removal, sod installation, and tree and hedge trimming.
  • Operates heavy machinery, including bulldozers, backhoes, excavators, loaders, rollers, dump trucks, and water trucks; ensures equipment cleanliness and performs routine maintenance.
  • Facilitates the transportation of materials and equipment to various job sites; responsible for loading and unloading trailers.
  • Fabricates tools and devices as necessary; performs welding tasks when assigned.
  • Completes additional duties as directed or necessary.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, along with a minimum of one year of experience in public works maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid Class A Texas Commercial Driver's License must be obtained within one year of employment.

Incentive pay is available for candidates holding a Class A Commercial Driver's License.
