Project Engineer Job Description

BergmanKPRS is a leading national general contractor/project management firm specializing in commercial construction for amusement water parks, retail ground-up, and tenant improvement projects.

We are seeking an experienced construction project engineer to join our project team as an integral member responsible for assisting in delivering retail projects of varying size and complexity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend client meetings and assist in determining project requirements
  • Assist the project manager in drafting and issuing project proposals, RFPs, budgets, cash flows, and preliminary schedules
  • Prepare project organization and communication charts
  • Chair site meetings and distribute minutes to all project team members
  • Track progress and quality of work performed by disciplines/trades
  • Use project scheduling and control tools to monitor project plans, work hours, budgets, and expenditures
  • Effectively communicate relevant project information to the client and project team
  • Ensure client needs are met in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Track field inspection reports throughout the project lifecycle
  • Assist the project manager in reviewing contractor quotations to ensure fair and reasonable pricing
  • Track and manage contemplated change notices and change orders
  • Prepare substantial completion certificates and ensure all required project close-out documents are obtained

Requirements:

  • Civil engineering or actual construction background
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and perform take-offs
  • Experience in the construction field and/or project/construction management
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting project management in delivering projects
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Project and/or ProCore and the MS Office Suite
  • Familiarity with construction methods and building codes
  • Strong sense of presence
