Job Summary

The Personal Care Provider plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our clients in their own homes. This position requires a caring and compassionate individual who can provide unskilled personal care and household services, as well as companionship and emotional support.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the home environment is safe and secure for the client;
  • Assist with household chores, including cooking, meal preparation, cleaning, and laundry;
  • Accompany clients on outings and appointments outside the home;
  • Provide companionship, including social interaction, conversation, and emotional reassurance;
  • Assist with personal hygiene, including bathing, hair care, and dressing;
  • Maintain accurate records of home visits and client care;
  • Participate in client care conferences, staff meetings, and agency committee meetings.
Critical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and staff;
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and self-control;
  • Knowledge of personal care and safety practices in the home care setting;
  • Understanding of family interactions and the aging process;
  • Basic knowledge of nutrition and food service;
  • Ability to accurately observe, report, and record client care and condition;
  • Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle, or alternative transportation;
  • Completion of a 20-hour training program or successful skills validation;
  • Six months or more experience in a home care setting, preferred.
