Our Critical Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nurses provide care for patients who require more attention than a Med Surg Unit but are not critical enough for the ICU. You will engage with patients needing Cardiac care (HF, Arrhythmias, STEMI/NSTEMI, electrolyte imbalances, hypo/hyper-tension, post-cardiac surgical interventions), along with various other serious conditions such as strokes, cancer, renal failure, sepsis, overdose, seizures, diabetes, etc. The PCU is an excellent environment for those seeking a challenge or for new Nurses aiming for a long-term career in ICU, SICU, ED, Cath Lab, Leadership, etc.

Role Responsibilities:
As a Registered Nurse in the Critical Progressive Care (PCU) at Saint Joseph Health System, you will be responsible for executing, directing, communicating, and documenting the nursing process in alignment with established standards of care and the Indiana Nurse Practice Act. Our RNs act as patient advocates, ensuring a safe environment for patients, visitors, and colleagues.
PCU offers the chance to learn and apply advanced skills such as:
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Administration of cardiac medications
- Tracheostomy care
- Management of chest tubes
- NIH Stroke Certification
- BLS / ACLS certification

Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited RN program.
- Licensure: RN Indiana License. CPR certification upon hire or within 60 days.
