Job Title: Preschool Lead Teacher

Job Summary

We are seeking a Preschool Lead Teacher to join our team at the Andover YMCA. As a Preschool Lead Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate lessons and activities, supervising participants, and maintaining safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Uphold the YMCA mission, vision, and values, as well as the Character Development core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
  • Effectively supervise participants and maintain safety standards.
  • Work accurately at a fast pace and communicate effectively through both oral and written means.
  • Handle questions and concerns, and resolve conflicts in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Demonstrate maturity, patience, dependability, sound judgment, and a desire to work with all ages, especially children.
Planning and Implementation
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons and activities.
  • Plan in advance and turn weekly lesson plans and supply needs into your Teacher/Director.
  • Post current lesson plans in the classroom at all times.
  • Develop a daily schedule that provides a balance of active and quiet activities, individual and group times.
  • Arrange the classroom to provide for learning centers and rotate toys routinely.
  • Monitor children's developmental progress through observation records, checklists, daily reports, and formal assessments.
Parent Communication
  • Maintain positive, open relations with all families.
  • Address and greet parents by name upon arrival and departure.
  • Reinforce daily to parent and child the successes and positive behaviors exhibited.
  • Visit with parents and keep record of all behavior concerns as may arise.
  • Communicate all concerns and provide written documentation of all concerns to the Lead Teacher/Director.
