Job Summary

Campus Facility Services (CFS) is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team. As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our campus facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain floors, ramps, and stairs, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming
• Service and clean restrooms, including restocking supplies and emptying trash and recycling
• Clean and polish fixtures, replace light bulbs, and clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors
• Mix and apply cleaning solutions, dust furniture and walls, and steam clean or shampoo carpets
• Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors, and clean and replace blinds, drapes, and entrance mats
• Collect and deliver soiled items, clear sidewalks, drives, and adjacent areas, and shovel snow
• Lock, unlock, and secure buildings, and maintain awareness of building and facilities, reporting abnormalities or security concerns

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner, with proficiency in communication and time management skills
• Demonstrated commitment to quality, flexibility, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to represent the company with external constituents, and interact with a wide variety of people
• Ability to perform work that requires medium to heavy physical effort, and understand and follow oral and written instructions

Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to remain in a stationary position, move about the workplace, and operate machinery, tools, and controls. The role also requires the ability to ascend/descend ladders/stairs, and position oneself in low-level positions. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation. Works during inclement weather when weather emergencies dictate that the department is needed to take care of the campus.
