In this role, you will work a standard schedule from Monday to Friday, with shifts from 7:30 AM to 6 PM or 8 AM to 6:30 PM.

As a Cardiovascular Intervention Technologist, your primary responsibility will be to provide technical support during diagnostic and interventional procedures. Your duties will include:

  • Acquiring and processing all imaging data.
  • Complying with all applicable state, local, and federal regulations.
  • Offering emergency on-call support as needed.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience as a Radiologic Technologist.
  • Knowledge of radiologic physics, advanced vascular equipment, and vascular anatomy and pathology.
  • The ability to work independently and demonstrate a strong work ethic.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize sterile techniques to assist in vascular, interventional, and surgical procedures according to established protocols.
  • Foster effective working relationships and engage in team-based process improvements.
  • Perform duties in high-pressure situations where standard practices may not apply.
  • Educate patients about procedures and equipment to ensure their understanding and cooperation.
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the examination process.
  • Set up or operate injectors for administering contrast agents during procedures.
  • Manually inject contrast agents when necessary.
  • Operate ancillary equipment in accordance with specific procedures.
  • Prepare and check patients prior to vascular-interventional studies.
  • Screen patients to confirm their eligibility for procedures based on baseline lab requirements.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the primary purposes of drugs used in interventional radiology, including their indications and contraindications.
  • Position patients for optimal radiographic exposure and adjust exposure factors as needed.
  • Adapt imaging and therapeutic procedures using professional judgment to enhance diagnostic quality and therapeutic outcomes.
  • Acquire, archive, transmit, and print images using PACS.
  • Complete after-hours image transmission and necessary documentation.
  • Report equipment malfunctions promptly to the help desk and PACS Administrator.
  • Process billing through RIS.
  • Maintain procedural records, including injection data and fluoroscopic time.
  • Provide after-hours standby call-in service.
  • Monitor and maintain equipment, ensuring timely repairs.
  • Teach and mentor students and new hires.
  • Stay updated on new technical information and skills through in-service programs and professional affiliations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.

Certifications:

  • Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in good standing.
  • Preferred certifications in Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography or Vascular-Interventional Radiology.
  • Current state licensure required prior to employment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Work Complexity:

  • Knowledge of radiologic physics and advanced vascular equipment for safe injection and imaging of human vascular anatomy.
  • Thorough understanding of vascular anatomy and pathology applicable to interventional and diagnostic exams.
  • Expertise in sterile techniques and maintaining a sterile environment.
  • Ability to work independently, especially during after-hours emergency services.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of one year of experience as a radiologic technologist preferred.
  • Preference for candidates with experience in a high-volume angiography department.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weights and handle equipment daily.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Adhere to standard precautions and utilize personal protective equipment as required.
