Histopathology Technician

Key Responsibilities:

Under the general oversight of the Histology/Cytology Manager or Laboratory Management, and direct supervision of the Histotechnology Supervisor or Lab Manager, the Histopathology Technician is tasked with the thorough preparation of all standard surgical and autopsy specimens, including frozen sections, processing, cutting, staining, and cover slipping.

Additionally, this role encompasses cytology preparation, histochemistry, and immunohistochemistry (including antibody optimization and validation), requiring a solid understanding of techniques, principles, instrumentation, and troubleshooting capabilities.

The technician is also responsible for confirming and distributing completed surgical cases and reports, along with some clerical tasks such as filing and retrieving tumor and consult requests, while possessing comprehensive knowledge of regulatory policies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Certification as a Histotechnician, along with training in histology, histochemistry, and immunohistochemistry, as well as familiarity with histology safety regulations and anatomical pathology computer systems. Proficiency in embedding, microtomy, special stains, and IHC is essential.
