General Overview:
Under general supervision and in collaboration with the Governor's School for Science & Mathematics Accelerate Coordinator, this role provides a conducive learning atmosphere and assistance for students engaged in an integrated virtual engineering curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:Promotes and adheres to the mission, vision, and strategic objectives of Lexington County School District One. Engages effectively with all stakeholders through communication and collaboration. Creates a safe, encouraging, and productive environment for both working and learning. Maintains accurate attendance records in line with board policies; reports absences to designated personnel. Informs students of established rules and expected behavior; ensures order and discipline in the classroom. Assigns appropriate tasks to students; addresses inquiries as needed; reviews completed work and submits it to Accelerate instructors. Handles all communications with the Accelerate coordinator and instructors. Assists in the promotion and recruitment of participants for the Accelerate program. Participates in all required professional meetings and training sessions. Selects, requests, and manages an inventory of instructional aids, technology tools, equipment, and supplies necessary for daily operations; ensures safe storage and proper usage of all materials. Utilizes personal technology devices and software applications for effective management of relevant information and communication. Performs additional related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications:A four-year degree with prior experience working with students; or an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. Knowledge and Skills:
Familiarity with the policies, procedures, and activities of the school district relevant to the specific duties of the position. Understanding of school policies, procedures, and operations. Capability to demonstrate proper maintenance, safe operation, and use of equipment, materials, and supplies utilized in daily activities. Ability to maintain high standards of accuracy in executing responsibilities. Proficiency in anticipating tasks and completing work independently. Capacity to uphold confidentiality regarding employee and student records. Ability to interact and communicate professionally with supervisors, colleagues, students, and the public.
Working Environment:
Duties are conducted in a classroom setting with minimal exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Responsibilities require constant attention while working with students. Physical demands are limited to classroom activities, including occasional lifting or moving of items weighing up to twenty-five pounds. Some local travel may be necessary; overnight travel is not required.
Accountability:
Supervisory responsibilities for students in classroom and instructional settings. No direct budgetary responsibilities.
Evaluation:
Job performance will be assessed annually in accordance with the School Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Staff Personnel.
