Communication: The role requires active collaboration with all members of the patient care team, ensuring the effective communication and reporting of relevant patient care information in a detailed manner. The pharmacist will also guide and mentor pharmacy technicians, students, and new pharmacists to enhance their confidence and skill set.
Operational Support: Serving as a unit-based pharmacist, this position exercises sound judgment in patient care decisions, providing both operational and clinical support, which includes order verification, processing requests, and offering pharmacy consultations, medication histories, and proactive drug therapy reviews.
Quality Assurance: The Senior Clinical Pharmacist collaborates with healthcare professionals to manage patient medication therapies, ensuring effectiveness and monitoring for side effects, adverse reactions, and drug interactions, while adhering to formulary management guidelines.
Inventory Management: This role involves managing inventory to reduce waste and expired medications, while also identifying cost-saving opportunities and sharing insights with the pharmacy team and management.
Professional Development: The Senior Clinical Pharmacist is encouraged to participate in inter-departmental activities, seek opportunities for continuous learning, and engage in technology assessments to enhance clinical services.
Qualifications: Candidates must possess a graduate degree from an accredited pharmacy program and meet the necessary licensure requirements. Experience in a hospital or specialty pharmacy setting is preferred.
