Material Handler Job Description

At Applied Medical, we're revolutionizing medical device manufacturing, and we're looking for a skilled Material Handler to join our team. As a Material Handler, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our warehouse, managing inventory, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receiving and Processing Shipments: Unload incoming shipments from vendor vehicles, verify accuracy, and report any damages.
  • Material Management: Load and unload material onto high-pile storage racking, utilizing radio frequency (RF) scanners, and perform cycle counts and inventory management strategies.
  • Material Fulfillment: Issue raw materials to manufacturing, count materials by hand or with a counting scale, and label and package items for storage.
  • Safety and Quality: Follow proper safety protocols, abide by quality standards, and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Collaborate with team members to ensure operational effectiveness, communicate with interdepartmental teams, and maintain open lines of communication.
Performance Objectives:
  • Within 30 days: Complete Applied Learning foundational courses, become familiar with the warehouse, and receive training on department roles.
  • Within 60 days: Comfortably use SAP, RF Scanners, and required equipment, execute tasks independently, and resolve issues with minimal guidance.
  • Within 90 days to 1 year: Confidently use all related equipment and software, execute tasks independently, and have a well-rounded understanding of all working areas of the receiving, picking, and processing areas.
Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Flexibility to work on 1st and 2nd shift within our Applied Medical, Irvine warehouse facility.
  • Ability to stand and work continuously for several hours at a time.
  • Self-sufficiency in completing tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Capability to occasionally lift objects weighing up to 50lbs.
  • Capacity to cooperate effectively in a team environment.
  • Read, write, and speak English.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with warehouse operations.
  • Knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Experience with general computer software.
  • Experience in operating forklifts.
