Deliver Exceptional Patient Care at UCLA Health

As a Radiation Therapist Technologist at UCLA Health, you will play a critical role in delivering specialized clinical expertise to our patients. Our award-winning health organization is renowned for its exceptional patient care, and we are seeking a talented individual to contribute to our team.

Under the general supervision of the Chief Radiation Therapy Technologist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Applying ionizing radiation according to medical prescriptions
  • Scheduling and managing patient appointments
  • Performing basic nursing duties
  • Conducting dose calculations
  • Entering treatment data
  • Collaborating with physicians, physicists, and dosimetrists to perform simulations and treatment planning CTs

This is a 49% per diem position, and you will be working in various locations, including Downtown Los Angeles, Santa Clarita, Santa Monica, and Westwood, with the possibility of future sites.

Salary Range: $105.96 Hourly

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification (ARRT License)
  • California State License in Radiation Therapy (CRT)
  • BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Skills in working with various treatment machines, including MR Scanners, CT Scanners, HDR units, and Linear Accelerators, and the ability to recognize hazardous conditions
  • Ability to lift cerrobend blocks weighing up to 35 pounds
  • Knowledge of basic physics as applicable to Radiation Therapy
  • Ability to use an electronic calculator for dose calculations
  • Knowledge of various treatment techniques to assist physicians in treatment planning
  • Skills in recognizing and reporting adverse patient therapy reactions
  • Knowledge of thermo-luminescent dosimeters
  • Skills in reading medical terminology and implementing computer-generated physics treatment plans
  • Knowledge of basic nursing procedures
  • Working knowledge of University procedures regarding isolation of immuno-suppressed patients
  • Ability to prepare for procedures by completing forms in a timely manner
  • Ability to interact with and provide special assistance to patients of various ages
  • Knowledge of required responses to internal and external disaster procedures, as well as fire and life safety protocols
