Job Summary:

This position requires extensive collaboration with medical staff, nursing service, and non-hospital personnel to provide high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of medication therapy, patient assessment, and cultural sensitivity.

The Pharmacist will be responsible for dispensing, procurement, control, and consultation involved with pharmaceuticals, as well as supervising and directing support personnel. They will also be expected to utilize critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will possess a strong knowledge base in medication for children, adolescents, and geriatric patients, and will be able to evaluate orders, make recommendations for therapy, and manage therapy through protocols.

Performance Expectations:

Performance expectations will be covered in the orientation and preceptor phases of your orientation to your job. The Pharmacist will be expected to utilize knowledge of hospital policies and government regulations, and to dispense accordingly with few variances from policy.

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, and will be able to consult with physicians and nursing staff regarding patient reactions, errors, and complaints. They will also be expected to accept personal ownership of remaining current with changes in department processes, and to communicate with team members and department leadership as evidenced by routinely leaving notes, exchanging emails, and attending in-services.

Qualifications:

Education/Skills

  • Graduate of an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy
Work Experience:

Preferred but not required

Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE

Registration with the Mississippi State of Board of Pharmacy

Current Controlled Substance Registration in the State of Mississippi by the MS State Board of Pharmacy
