Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

Under general supervision, the Emergency Services Technician provides essential supportive care to patients in a fast-paced environment. This role may involve performing specific procedures under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or Physician, adhering to established protocols and practices.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
Completion of a vocational training program in a para-medical field (such as EMT-1 or Paramedic) or an accredited Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) program, as evidenced by valid licensure.

Experience:
Prior experience as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-1, Paramedic, or LVN) is preferred but not mandatory.

Licenses and Certifications (All REQUIRED upon hire):

  • BLS certification (mandatory)
  • EMT certification or Licensed Paramedic (mandatory)
  • Current California LVN licensure with IV certification (mandatory)
  • Phlebotomy State Certification (if not a licensed Paramedic or LVN with IV certification) (mandatory)
  • Basic arrhythmia training (preferred)

KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

Knowledge of:

  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Medical procedures and modalities
  • Basic arrhythmia recognition
  • Fundamental EMT protocols
  • Modern office technology and software
  • Report documentation

Ability to:
  • Understand and apply relevant rules, regulations, and standards
  • Stay updated on advancements in the medical field
  • Communicate effectively in both oral and written forms
  • Prepare necessary documentation and reports
  • Manage emergency situations with sound judgment to avoid adverse patient outcomes

AGE OF PATIENTS COMPETENCIES (if applicable):
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to address the physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs of patients across various age groups in the assigned unit.
