Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician - Automation at Nemera is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of various assembly, subassembly, printing, and/or packaging machines. This role involves monitoring, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment to maintain productivity and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and report any hazards or unsafe conditions.
  • Read, use, and interpret measuring devices, gauges, and inspection tools to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment to prevent downtime and ensure optimal performance.
  • Check and maintain the quality of products being produced by identifying acceptable and non-acceptable products in accordance with quality policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in teams and offer suggestions for improvement to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Respond to machine alarms and identify and address the root cause of issues.
  • Follow all 5S guidelines to maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Perform and document inspections per cGMP for work instruction sheet, device history sheet records, and work instruction sheet tables.
  • Follow all Lock Out/Tag Out rules to ensure safe equipment operation.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot any pneumatic, mechanical, or electrical malfunctions on a variety of machines.
  • Adjust assembly machine units for major/minor lot production operations following department specifications.
  • Repair and maintain electrical controls on equipment, including servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines and devices primarily on the basis of electronic principles.
  • Assist with uploading programs to controls in the event of program loss or CPU replacement.
  • Repair robot arms and controls, including replacing bad boards, motors, encoders, etc.
  • Conduct TPM activities as required.
  • Input maintenance work orders into the Computerized Maintenance Management Software (SAP).
  • Monitor processes, show an awareness of issues, and demonstrate corrective actions to address those issues.
  • Perform weekly, monthly, and as required preventive maintenance (PM).
  • Perform root cause analysis for safety, quality, and processing issues.
  • Suggest ways to improve the efficiency and safety of our work and environment.
  • Comply with all company policies.
  • Troubleshoot and locate the source of the problem by observing the operation of the equipment.
  • Brainstorm with other maintenance personnel and outside technical support as needed.
  • Restore damaged or malfunctioning equipment to operation by repairing, replacing, and/or adjusting electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Control downtime by scheduling repairs with the Maintenance Leader.
  • Maintain good communication with the Maintenance Leader.
  • Maintain an ongoing list of CMMS work orders with a timeline to be addressed and completed.
  • Assist other maintenance personnel as needed.
  • Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Ensure work is completed with technical excellence and in an efficient and cost-effective fashion.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have 3 or more years of experience in a technical, hands-on position.
  • Experience with complex assembly automation required.
  • Experience in electrical, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 40lbs with repetitive movements.
  • Ability to push and pull items and climb up and down ladders.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk up to constantly during the shift.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills:
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications required and SAP experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently from verbal and/or written instructions required.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts.
  • Must be mechanically inclined and can use basic hand tools.
  • Must have strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

Work Environment:
  • Works in a clean manufacturing environment that may include moderate noise levels and requires appropriate PPE and cleanroom apparel.
