Senior Veterinarian for Marine Life

Job Summary:
The Senior Veterinarian for Marine Life at the Audubon Institute is responsible for managing the health and well-being of aquatic animals in our care. We are seeking an experienced and passionate veterinarian to join our team.
About the Job:
This role involves providing comprehensive medical care to our marine life collection, including diagnosis, treatment, and preventative medicine. The successful candidate will work closely with our animal care team to ensure the highest standards of animal welfare and care.
Responsibilities:
- Provide medical care to aquatic animals, including routine check-ups, surgeries, and emergency response
- Develop and implement animal health programs to promote the well-being of our marine life collection
- Work with our animal care team to develop and implement enrichment programs for our animals
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all animals in our care
- Collaborate with our research team to advance our understanding of marine animal health and conservation
- Supervise and mentor veterinary students and residents as needed
Requirements:
- DVM or VMD degree from an accredited program
- Minimum 3 years of experience in treating non-domestic animals, preferably in a public aquarium or marine mammal setting
- Board certification in zoological medicine (ACZM) or eligibility
- Current licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Louisiana
- SCUBA certification preferred
