Position Overview

SAIC is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to oversee a dedicated team focused on delivering innovative hardware and software solutions for military applications.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a group of Electrical Engineers in project execution.
  • Manage design verification testing (DVT) for newly developed electronic systems.
  • Create and evaluate documentation for a Technical Data Package (TDP) related to the design, development, unit testing, and integration of hardware and firmware components.
  • Identify technical and integration risks, proposing effective mitigation strategies.
  • Draft and review test plans and procedures.
  • Examine and resolve Deficiency Reports.
  • Assess milestone contract deliverables and provide lifecycle recommendations for development efforts.
  • Engage in internal peer reviews and formal customer design evaluations.
  • Guide and mentor engineering interns and junior engineers.
  • Conduct power budget analyses for various computing environments.
  • Execute circuit design, analysis, simulation, and component selection for systems requiring high availability, reliability, and minimal Size, Weight, and Power (SWAP).

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree with fourteen years of relevant experience; six (6) years of additional experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Preferred candidates will hold a degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.

Required Clearance:

  • Must possess Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain it; US Citizenship is mandatory.

Required Experience:

  • Experience in design verification of complex electronic circuit card assemblies.
  • Expertise in embedded microcontroller hardware and firmware design and development.
  • Proficiency in FPGA firmware design, development, and verification.
  • Knowledge of high-speed digital design (e.g., LVDS, GigE, DDR3/DDR4).
  • Experience in analog design for data acquisition systems.
  • Familiarity with switch mode power supply design.
  • Background in motor control systems.
  • Understanding of EMC (MIL-STD-461) requirements.
  • Knowledge of High Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) survivability standards.
  • Experience with environmental testing (MIL-STD-810).
  • Proficient in MS Office suite and MS Visio, with strong communication skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience with military radar systems, electronic countermeasures, weapon fire control systems, and systems integration is highly desirable.
