Seattle, Washington, United States Rec Room Full time
Rec Room is a leading online gaming platform that offers a unique and immersive experience for players. We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our Avatars team, where you will play a key role in expanding the capabilities of player expression and creating groundbreaking avenues for creative exchange.

We have a thriving ecosystem of creators who build compelling experiences for each other, but minimal tools exist for how creators can make and sell digital clothing to our players. As a member of our Avatars team, you will be involved in building these tools, empowering the next generation of fashion designers and digital artists to grow their craft, find an audience, create markets, and make a living doing what they love and providing value for their Rec Room communities.

As an Avatars Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for architecting and building new systems that expand the capabilities of core avatar systems, adding new forms of avatar expression, and improving the look, feel, and movement of our players. You will work closely with our first-party art team to guide us towards a delightful creation experience, partner development teams to deliver systems that help creators enjoy the creation of new avatar customization options, and evolve existing avatar systems to improve usability, add quality-of-life features for creators, and improve memory and compute performance across all of our platforms.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of professional interactive 3D software or games development experience, fluency in C# with experience with memory and performance optimization in Unity, experience debugging and extending complex, multi-threaded systems, experience shipping a multiplayer game that is used cross-platform on 3D mobile, consoles, and PC screens, and experience with building systems around animation and real-time skinned meshes. Bonus points if you have experience building artist-friendly pipelines for exporting animated assets, shipping VR games, working with modern versions of Unity, and live services and rapid deployment.

At Rec Room, we offer a full slate of benefits, including flexible vacation, medical, dental vision, life, and disability coverage, long-term care insurance, FSA, commuter benefits, a 401(k) plan with company match, and a parental leave program. The estimated salary for this position is between $164,800 - $200,000 USD per year, depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Stock options and, in some cases, a sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package.
