Job Summary

The Crisis Intervention Specialist serves on the Mobile Crisis team, providing crisis services to clients, families, and community members. This role involves responding to referrals and 988 calls, assessing situations, and creating safety plans in collaboration with individuals and families. The specialist will provide follow-up services until the client is transitioned to an appropriate level of care.

Key Responsibilities

• Incorporates the six principles of trauma-informed care throughout all aspects of their work.
• Coordinates and collaborates with INcompass Healthcare staff and community partners for assessment, crisis/safety planning, and referral to ongoing services and supports.
• Consults with on-call psychiatrists to determine the need for inpatient admission and facilitates admission to our inpatient unit or transfer to other facilities when necessary.
• Conducts crisis screenings and assessments as appropriate through face-to-face and telehealth, including home, school, and community locations.
• Collaborates with IPU staff to assist with admissions to the unit and stabilization efforts for clients with clinically indicated needs.
• Works with local law enforcement, first responders, 988, 911, DCS, APS, probation, schools, primary care providers, natural supports, and others to mitigate crises.
• Provides crisis support to individuals calling the crisis line, including initiating well-checks, arranging transportation, and linking to other services and supports as needed.
• Consults with the on-call Crisis Therapist, Psychiatrist, or Program Manager of Crisis Services as required.
• Monitors clients' current functioning and assesses risk during follow-up sessions.
• Provides direct treatment according to agency policy and procedures.
• Assists clients and families in obtaining necessary resources, including presumptive eligibility and Medicaid as appropriate.
• Advocates for clients' needs within the mental health system and community.
• Provides transportation to treatment activities and appointments when necessary.
• Teaches and models appropriate skills to clients and families to encourage healthy communication and roles, establishing safety and stability.
• Completes all documentation according to agency policies and procedures.

Requirements

An associate degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related human service field, or relevant professional and life experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Two years of experience with mental illness or behavioral health are required. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of and experience with crisis evaluation and intervention, the ability to work effectively with clients of all ages and their families, and basic knowledge of the needs of clients with SED, SMI, Addictions, and Dual Diagnosis.
