Key Responsibilities- Assess patients' cardiopulmonary status to develop, revise, and implement respiratory care plans.
- Assist in airway management and monitoring of patients undergoing special procedures.
- Identify and address the special needs of patients in critical care settings.
- Practice in accordance with established minimum standards and departmental competency-based assessment inventory.
- Assist patients, family members, and other healthcare providers to facilitate the discharge process through education, training, and coordination of equipment referrals.
- Maintain and improve job knowledge and technical skills to provide competent, state-of-the-art respiratory care.
- Provide education and professional expertise to patients, family members, and the healthcare team.
- Work with RC Assistants and students to provide clinical direction and supervision.
- Assist in training new personnel.
- Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy.
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
- Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) by the state of Wisconsin.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) within two years of hire date.
- Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers certification.
- Neonatal/Pediatric Respiratory Care Specialist credential (CRT-NPS or RRT-NPS) required for Neonatal/Pediatric Transport Team.
As a Respiratory Therapist at Gundersen Health System, you will work in a dynamic and supportive environment with a team of dedicated healthcare professionals. You will be exposed to infectious diseases and required to wear a respirator. The physical demands of the position include sitting, standing, walking, and repetitive actions.
