Job Summary

Brookhaven National Laboratory is seeking a highly skilled Radiation Safety Advisor to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in maintaining and protecting the radiological safety and health of our employees, the public, and the environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide technical advice on internal and external dosimetry
Revise quality assurance plans and documents to align with current dosimetry functions
Complete the DOELAP accreditation checklist with the ANSI Standard
Support the consolidation of the Technical Basis Document for Internal dosimetry
Update the Internal dosimetry Library for nuclide identifications
Develop SOPs for scanning urine samples before GEL analytical processes
Identify and address gaps in the Personnel Monitoring's dosimetry accreditation program

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in health physics, engineering, sciences, or a related field
Minimum 10 years of experience in dosimetry, quality control, and radiation detection instrumentation
Strong technical and problem-solving skills
Ability to perform duties independently with minimal oversight
Familiarity with TLD, OSL, Accuscan gamma detection systems, bioassay, internal, and external dosimetry
Knowledge of DOELAP accreditation and ANSI standards
