Job Summary

Grant Healthcare and Rehabilitation is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Activities Director to lead our social and recreational programs. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive program of activities that meet the social, emotional, physical, and therapeutic needs of our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a program of activities that promote socialization, recreation, and therapy for residents.
  • Initiate and promote activities within the facility and outside, ensuring the safety and well-being of residents at all times.
  • Coordinate and verify assistance for residents as necessary, and solicit community involvement in planning facility activities and events.
  • Maintain detailed records of activity programs and participation, identifying progress toward established care plan goals.
  • Develop and distribute a monthly calendar of events, and train groups of volunteers and students in techniques of recreational therapy.
  • Assist residents with organizing and maintaining an active Resident Council, and maintain all activity-related records required by regulations and Medical Records.
Requirements
  • Meet at least one of the following criteria: degree and certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist, certified activity director by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals, or two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the past five years.
  • One to two years of management/supervisory experience, skill at working with individuals who have cognitive, physical, or sensory disabilities, and general knowledge of regulatory requirements for an activity program in a long-term care facility.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, excellent organizational skills, and ability to prioritize, coordinate, and maintain multiple projects with high quality and productivity.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, high level of energy and enthusiasm, and physical ability to travel to sites.
