Position Overview:
The Operating Room Clinical Nurse Specialist plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional patient care within the surgical services department. Candidates should possess a minimum of one year of professional nursing experience in an operating room setting.

- Abdominal Transplant Surgery
Northwestern Memorial Healthcare is recognized for its state-of-the-art surgical facilities, including over 60 operating rooms that cater to both scheduled and urgent/emergent procedures.
Call and Scheduling Responsibilities:
Members of the surgical team will participate in weekend call rotations and cover shifts during staff vacations. A prompt response time of 30 minutes is expected when on call. The team is structured to ensure that two members are available daily to address surgical emergencies and additional cases, with a minimum call hour requirement established over a six-week period.
Opportunities for Professional Development:
We offer tuition reimbursement and funding for professional development initiatives. Obtaining CNOR Certification is encouraged within two years of experience in the operating room, with reimbursement available through professional development funds.
Professional Growth Funds:
Full-time employees are eligible for $1,000, while part-time employees can receive $500 annually for professional development.

Participation in volunteer initiatives is encouraged, whether organized by Northwestern Memorial or independently.
Compassionate Care:
Consistently establishing interpersonal connections with patients and families is essential, ensuring respectful and dignified treatment throughout the care process.
Professional Engagement:
Active involvement in professional organizations or hospital committees is expected. The nurse will demonstrate accountability in collaborative practices and contribute to policy development aimed at enhancing nursing practices.
