Parks Maintenance Worker Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Parks Maintenance Worker to join our team at the City of Mount Vernon. As a key member of our Parks and Recreation department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks to maintain the beauty and functionality of our parks and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain parks, facilities, and trails through regular cleaning, mowing, and edging.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on equipment, buildings, and other infrastructure.
  • Assist with construction and remodeling projects, including forming, pouring, and finishing concrete.
  • Operate a variety of equipment, including excavators, dump trucks, and power tools.
  • Perform electrical work, including changing outlets and replacing light fixtures.
  • Assist with special events and projects, including setup and cleanup.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three years of relevant experience in maintenance, construction, or a related field.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license required.
  • Pesticide Applicator's License (Public Operator) required.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with Air Brake endorsement required.
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification required within six months of hire.
