Job Description:


The CNC Laser Programmer/CNC Laser position is responsible for providing programming, set up and machining expertise in support of daily production and prototype. This role is key to ensuring the efficient and accurate production of components.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Programs the laser equipment using nesting software to optimize production efficiency and minimize material waste.
  • Updates routings for changes made to machined components as well as new components to ensure accurate and timely production.
  • Identifies new process steps to flatten/shorten route steps and BOM requirements, improving production efficiency and reducing costs.
  • Determines routings based on engineering drawings and specifications, ensuring accurate and timely production.
  • Evaluates engineering drawings with engineering software to identify potential issues and ensure accurate production.
  • Programs and nests laser parts using nest software to optimize production efficiency and minimize material waste.
  • Explores and develops new approaches and processes to increase quality and productivity in the machine shop.
  • Analyzes blueprints to calculate correct part dimension for tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates, ensuring accurate production.
  • Ensures that the proper tooling/fixtures required are ordered and available for production, minimizing downtime and delays.
  • Makes mechanical and/or program adjustments to ensure parts are meeting quantity and quality requirements.
  • Suggests and/or collaborates on design improvements or alternative methods with manager and/or design engineers to optimize production efficiency and minimize costs.
  • Notifies supervisor of any quality concerns or delays, ensuring prompt attention and resolution.
  • Verifies accuracy of engineering information for manufacturing, ensuring accurate and timely production.
  • Remains flexible to shift task per manufacturing's needs, demonstrating adaptability and teamwork.
  • Works within deadlines to ensure timely deliveries, meeting customer expectations and company goals.
  • Problem solves and communicates effectively with the work team, ensuring smooth and efficient production.
  • Contributes ideas for continuous improvement of workflow and processes, demonstrating a commitment to excellence.
  • Follows all safety guidelines and procedures, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Professional Experience/Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or equivalent, with a strong background in mathematics and science.
  • AutoCAD/Inventor experience a plus, with a strong understanding of CAD/CAM principles.
  • Hands on experience and knowledge of machining, fabricating, welding, and finishing of metals, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Vessel or trailer design a plus, with a strong understanding of engineering principles.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, with the ability to learn new software applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize deadlines, and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and management.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage time, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attendance and dependability, with a strong commitment to teamwork and customer satisfaction.
