Role Summary

The Software Product Management Manager plays a crucial role in defining operational requirements for sophisticated Structural Engineering, CAD, and Business Management software. This position involves the design, documentation, and validation of software features and functionalities. The manager will provide technical support and training for new software capabilities and will lead a team of Software Product Managers within MiTek's Automation Solutions Group. This individual will also actively participate in an Agile Development Scrum team, contributing to software development processes. As a key decision-maker, this leader will evaluate project risks alongside Software Developers and Software Quality Managers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and guide a team of 4 or more Software Product Managers responsible for software utilized in MiTek's automated industrial machinery.
  • Manage hiring processes, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions for direct reports.
  • Establish procedures and standards to enhance team performance and eliminate obstacles.
  • Mentor junior Software Product Managers to foster their professional growth.
  • Facilitate the specification of requirements for current and future products through stakeholder research, including customer visits.
  • Drive collaborative solutions across software development teams through detailed requirements, product visualizations, and presentations.
  • Engage with the requirements team and collaborate with software development to ensure solutions are effective and meet stakeholder needs.
  • Collaborate with Software Developers and Software Quality Analysts during design reviews to ensure complex feature objectives are achieved.
  • Conduct product demonstrations for clients, showcasing the full range of the software suite.
  • Encourage team members to explore alternative system and software designs.
  • Develop expertise in competitive offerings, focusing on domain knowledge relevant to the role.
  • Maintain regular attendance during work hours and as needed for overtime.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Product Management is required.
  • Previous experience in managing and leading a team is highly preferred.
  • Experience in managing machinery or software products as a Product Manager is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with automation equipment or machinery is preferred.
  • Background in a manufacturing environment or construction industry is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies is preferred.
  • Proficiency in software development environments such as C# or Visual Basic .NET is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with stakeholders and clients.
  • Ability to compose reports, business correspondence, and procedural documentation.
  • Competence in presenting information and addressing inquiries from groups of managers, clients, and the public.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
