- Champion technology tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and data security, driving innovation and excellence in our tax practice.
- Hands-on review and approval of tax returns and other tax consulting and planning work product, maintaining the highest standards of quality and professionalism.
- Manage tax projects and due dates with personal responsibility for signing as the tax preparer, ensuring compliance with professional licensing standards and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure timeliness of deliverables and accept final responsibility for decisions, demonstrating strong leadership and accountability.
- Understand and implement professional licensing standards, requirements of Circular 230, the IRC and FTC for the tax team, staying up-to-date on changes in tax laws and procedures.
- Hands-on mentoring of tax team members to support their professional and personal growth, fostering a culture of learning and development.
- Act as a resource for tax staff and Partners on tax issues and/or questions, providing expert guidance and support.
- Maintain current knowledge of changes in tax laws and procedures, implementing changes in tax team workflows and standards of practice to maintain the highest level of professional excellence.
- Engage in the design of annual tax staff training, ensuring our team stays up-to-date on the latest tax developments and best practices.
- Work with Partners and other lines of business, building strong relationships and driving collaboration and innovation.
- Maintain professional relationships in the profession and participate in national, state, and local membership organizations, staying connected with the broader tax community.
- 5+ years of experience in public accounting, with a strong background in tax compliance and controversy.
- Licensed CPA in CA or ability to become licensed in California within 6 months of joining the firm.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or J.D. required, with an advance degree in taxation preferred.
- Excellent tax research and writing skills, with knowledge of income tax returns in the areas of individuals, partnerships, S Corporations, C Corporations, nonprofits, and foundations.
- Prefer experience with complex real estate transactions, trust accounting, foreign tax matters, and mergers & acquisitions.
- Public Speaking experience preferred, with excellent software skills and experience in managing a team of licensed professionals.
- Experience in tax controversy, audit, and rulings strongly preferred, with Emotional Intelligence and demonstrated diversity, equity, and inclusion leadership.
