- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care, including medication management, therapy, and education.
- Conduct thorough assessments and reassessments to identify changes in patient condition, adjusting care plans as needed.
- Develop and implement teaching plans to promote patient education and empowerment.
- Provide direct patient care, adjusting nursing processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Monitor patient hemodynamic status, interpreting results and intervening as necessary.
- Implement and document timely interventions to address patient needs.
- Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
- Follow established medication protocols, ensuring accurate administration and minimizing errors.
- Reassess patients systematically to identify outcomes of care and identify needs that require intervention.
- Interpret data about patient status to identify age-specific needs, providing care tailored to the patient population.
- Evaluate outcomes of care, revising plans as necessary and setting priorities for care.
- Work collaboratively with Social Service Representatives to ensure appropriate utilization of services and plan for post-discharge needs.
- Treat patients and families with respect and dignity, addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs.
- Acknowledge and implement physician orders in a timely manner.
- Assist physicians with procedures specific to the department.
- Complete occurrence reports on incidents or unusual events prior to the end of the shift.
- Coordinate assignments and make adjustments based on patient and unit needs, following up on delegated patient care tasks for quality and completeness.
- Staff and flex according to staffing guidelines.
- Validate LPN/MHT/staff RN assessments and documentation on assigned shifts.
- Function as a Preceptor or educational resource in the initial and ongoing orientation of assigned staff, students, etc.
- Support a restraint-free environment using preventative measures and de-escalation skills/techniques.
- Scheduling requirements: 3-12 hour shifts per week, 2 weekends per month (Saturday and Sunday).
- Floating policy: may be floated to another unit or to do admissions.
- Unit specifics:
- Number of beds: 16.
- Patient ratios: 1:4, 1-2 nurses/3 Mental Health Techs.
- Unit staffing description: Each unit is staffed with a manager on days and supervisor at night. Also 24/7 House Supervisor coverage for the hospital.
- Dress code: Navy scrubs.
- Unit guidelines/policies: Must maintain therapeutic psychiatric boundaries with patients.

- Any additional information that would entice a worker to select your unit for their assignment: Nurses self-schedule, blank schedule is posted and nurses work together to fill out the schedule, nurse manager reconciles schedule and then posts schedule.
