About this role:

Clinical Care

Patient Diagnosis:

Conduct thorough examinations of newborns, diagnose conditions, and develop appropriate treatment plans.

Life-Saving Interventions:

Provide immediate medical care for newborns in critical condition, including resuscitation and the use of advanced life support techniques.

Treatment Management:

Administer medications, perform procedures, and monitor the progress of critically ill or premature infants.

Coordination of Care:

Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, pediatricians, and specialists, to ensure comprehensive care for newborns.

Parental Support:

Communicate with and support parents, explaining diagnoses, treatment plans, and prognoses while offering emotional support.

Administrative Duties:

Maintain accurate and detailed medical records of patients' conditions, treatments, and progress.

Compliance:

Ensure adherence to hospital policies, governmental regulations, and industry standards for neonatal care.

Team Leadership:

Lead and mentor a team of neonatal nurses, medical students, and residents, fostering a collaborative and educational environment.

Continuous Education:

Stay current with the latest advancements in neonatology through continuing medical education, attending conferences, and reading scientific journals.

Research:

Participate in or conduct research studies aimed at improving neonatal care and outcomes.

Qualifications and Skills:

Educational Requirements

Medical Degree:

A Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.

Residency:

Completion of a pediatric residency program.

Fellowship:

Additional specialized fellowship training in neonatology.

Board Certification:

Board certification in neonatology by a recognized medical board (e.g., the American Board of Pediatrics).
