Position Summary:

The R&D Avionics & Electrical Specialist is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic systems within aircraft.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct inspections, tests, adjustments, and repairs on avionics systems, including radar, radio, navigation, autopilot, and compass systems, utilizing hand tools and specialized test equipment.
  2. Examine avionics components for defects, ensuring accuracy in assembly and installation.
  3. Evaluate avionics equipment under simulated or real operating conditions to assess performance and airworthiness, employing test instruments such as oscilloscopes and digital meters.
  4. Modify, replace, or repair faulty components based on test analysis, adhering to blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  5. Calibrate equipment that has been installed or repaired.
  6. Oversee flight test instrumentation and modifications.
  7. Provide support for ground operations during flight tests.
  8. Maintain comprehensive records of repairs and modifications.

Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  2. Experience in flight operation support is essential.
  3. Proven experience with aircraft wiring, repairs, or modifications is necessary.

Skills and Competencies:

  1. Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
  2. Proficient in interpreting wiring diagrams.
  3. Strong technical support skills in avionics, airframe, and power plant installation, repair, and fabrication.
  4. Exceptional interpersonal skills and sound judgment in mechanical repair and fabrication scenarios.
  5. In-depth knowledge of glass cockpit avionics systems, troubleshooting techniques, and wiring practices.
  6. Able to collaborate effectively with internal engineering teams and external suppliers while maintaining a professional demeanor.
  7. Strong prioritization and teamwork skills.
  8. Willingness to travel as required and adapt to changing situations.
  9. Flexibility regarding various schedules and overtime commitments.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Exposure to operational noise, temperature variations, and aircraft-related odors may occur.
  2. Ability to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, climb, and reach for extended periods as required by job duties.
  3. Work safely and professionally, adhering to all regulatory standards.
  4. Must be able to read, hear, speak, and see without restrictions as necessary for job performance.
  5. Effectively communicate in Business English.
  6. Ability to lift or move items up to 10 lbs throughout the work shift without assistance.
  7. Capable of moving heavier items (up to 50 lbs or more) using company-provided assistance technology.
  8. Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and outdoor environments.
