Maintenance Worker II

The City of Ridgefield is seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Worker II to join our Public Works Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of skilled maintenance duties to support the upkeep of our parks and landscaping. This is a regular, non-exempt position with a normal work schedule of four 10-hour days per week, and may require working on weekends.
Key Responsibilities- Operate a variety of light-to-medium equipment and machinery, including large trucks, dump trucks, loaders, backhoes, mowers, and other related equipment.
- Perform skilled work in grounds maintenance duties, including mowing and edging turf, watering, weeding, pruning trees, shrubs, and hedges.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance on park grounds, facilities, and infrastructure, including parking lots, tables, benches, and irrigation systems.
- Operate and perform minor upkeep on hand-held power and landscaping tools.
- Assist with community events, such as hanging banners and setting up and taking down canopies and other event equipment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three years' general work experience in construction, operation, and maintenance of streets, drainage, or facilities.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Washington State Commercial Driver's License.
- Possession of or ability to obtain certifications/training in pesticide license, Industrial First Aid/CPR Card, Flagging and Traffic Control Card, Defensive Driving, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Fire Extinguisher, and Trenching and Shoring.
- Parks maintenance and landscaping experience.
- Knowledge of methods and techniques of construction, maintenance, and repair related work.
- Operational characteristics of mechanical equipment and tools.
- Safe Work Practices.
