The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is seeking a highly skilled Tribal Liaison to join our team. As a key member of our Environmental Management team, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with federal and state historic preservation laws and overseeing our tribal consultation program.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure compliance with federal and state historic preservation laws and regulations.
- Oversee INDOT's tribal consultation program, including developing and implementing strategies to engage with tribal communities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination on tribal-related matters.
- Develop and maintain relationships with tribal leaders and representatives to foster trust and cooperation.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to INDOT staff on tribal-related issues.
- Conduct research and analysis to inform tribal consultation and compliance efforts.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, or a related field.
- At least 6 years of experience in environmental management, tribal relations, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state historic preservation laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
