Electrical Engineer Job Description

NewGround, a world-class design and build firm, is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team in St. Louis or Chicago. This role will involve designing building electrical systems, preparing construction documents, and collaborating with other disciplines.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop working construction document drawings, material listings, and specifications.
  • Review code requirements and ensure compliance with NEC and energy codes.
  • Perform routine design tasks, including selection and specification of luminaires, lighting controls, and photometric calculations.
  • Provide support for branch circuiting, OCPD, and cable selection and sizing.
  • Research local jurisdictional requirements and utility service configuration compliance.
  • Work closely with the Project Architect and Estimating Department to maintain design within budget.
  • Coordinate project design with Architectural, Interior Design, and other Engineering disciplines.
  • Check shop drawings and prepare ASI and Addenda, as well as respond to RFI requests.
  • Maintain project files and pertinent communications archives.
  • Attend field visits, as required.
  • Input data into pre-configured computer programs.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering from an ABET-accredited college.
  • 4 years minimum experience in facilities and building electrical power and lighting systems design.
