Position Overview:
The Electrical Estimator is responsible for managing bid requests, serving as a project coordinator, and handling service calls as necessary. This role is essential in ensuring accurate estimations and effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and interpret bids, quotes, technical documentation, and relevant regulations at various governmental levels.
- Draft reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals to support project documentation.
- Communicate effectively with personnel at all levels, as well as with vendors and their representatives.
- Calculate material and labor costs, including applicable discounts, and interpret financial metrics such as percentages and margins.
- Log and verify incoming bids and specifications.
- Assess the feasibility of responding to bids and compute pricing structures.
- Prepare bid summaries for managerial review and approval prior to submission.
- Generate reports detailing bid responses and outcomes.
- Conduct service calls as required and perform additional related duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Journeyman's card.
- 2-3 years of experience in electrical estimation.
- Familiarity with estimating software is preferred.
- Self-motivated and goal-oriented, with the ability to work independently.
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Ability to read and comprehend electrical diagrams and blueprints.
- Strong mathematical skills, including basic algebra.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Capability to travel to job sites for project reviews.
- Ability to perform residential and light commercial service calls as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
- 5 years of experience in electrical or industrial construction.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
- Consistent attendance history.
