Position: Plastic Injection Molding Technician

Position Summary: The primary responsibility of the Plastic Injection Molding Technician is to initiate, oversee, program, and resolve issues with plastic injection-molding machinery and associated equipment. This role necessitates specialized expertise in materials, tools, and machinery. Troubleshooting may involve addressing material inconsistencies, equipment malfunctions, human errors, and defect prevention.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that injection molding machines, auxiliary apparatus, and linked automated systems adhere to regulatory standards, fulfill quality benchmarks, and achieve production objectives.
  • Set up and initiate molding machines, interpret part specifications, and possess a working knowledge of measuring tools such as calipers.

· Monitor and diagnose processing issues, conduct preventive maintenance, and document any changes in processes.

· Demonstrate understanding and application of scientific molding principles.

  • Identify and request necessary mold repairs.
  • Start up and maintain injection molding machines, adjusting cycle times to meet production standards. Familiarity with Sepro robots is advantageous.
  • Log work orders into maintenance management software.
  • Coordinate and escalate various maintenance and processing concerns promptly.
  • Ensure accurate initial setup and process validation.
  • Initial setup includes the correct selection of raw materials and related components for assembly as needed.
  • Support machine operations, make processing adjustments within tolerances, and recommend changes for enhanced efficiency.
  • Continuously monitor all processes related to injection molding.
  • Ensure all process parameters are met to produce parts that meet quality standards, including first piece approvals and last shots.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years in a Mold Setter/Setup or similar role.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Process Technician with various brands of injection molding machines.
  • Experience with different automation equipment, including Sepro Robots.

Physical Requirements: This position requires fast-paced movement, prolonged standing, kneeling, raising arms for machine control, and climbing to monitor cutting progress. Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs is necessary, with exposure to high temperatures in the facility.
