About the Role:

The Medical Assistant - Clinical Support will work under the direction of the physician and RN to provide high-quality patient care. This role will involve taking vital signs, assisting with data collection, and providing direct care as directed. The Medical Assistant will also coordinate laboratory and radiology appointments, referrals, and direct patients to the proper services with all needed requisitions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide care to patients as instructed in accordance with established procedures.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs, and document all information in patient's chart.
  • Obtain all related reports, labs, and information and file in patients' medical records in accordance with established procedures.
  • Ensure that exam rooms are stocked with adequate medical supplies and cleaned in accordance with practice standards.
  • Schedule and verify appointments for patients, including verification of patient insurance information.
  • Record all necessary patient, guarantor, and financial information as each patient is being registered.
  • Gather all proper forms and obtain necessary signatures.
  • Collect and provide receipts as required for pre-payment of services and prepare encounter.
  • Direct or assist the patient to the ancillary department with paperwork required by the department.
  • Maintain all logs, charts, and appointment books.
  • Check expiration dates on all stored medications/immunizations/supplies on a weekly basis.
  • Update laboratory/x-ray logs daily.
  • Maintain MSDS book.
  • May perform specialized procedures, such as blood draws, conduct EKGs.
  • May complete insurance forms and code procedures for billing.
  • For certified medical assistants only: input data into Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Maintain patient charts and logs and provide secretarial support as well as assisting with registration and billing.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years' experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant preferred. Order entry certification preferred.
