Job Summary: The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing all payroll functions, ensuring accurate and timely compensation for all employees. This role includes managing staff, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and maintaining payroll systems and records. The Payroll Manager collaborates with various departments to ensure efficient payroll operations and provides exceptional service to employees regarding payroll inquiries. We seek a Payroll Manager with technical payroll expertise and experience in the home health care sector, particularly with EMR systems such as HHA Exchange, Matrixcare, or Netsmart, and familiarity with HRIS for payroll processing. Experience with payroll implementation is also desired.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll Processing: Oversee and manage the complete payroll process, including regular and special payroll runs. Ensure accurate calculations of wages, bonuses, overtime, deductions, and taxes. Verify and reconcile payroll data for accuracy and compliance.
- Payroll Systems Management: Maintain and update payroll systems to ensure efficient processing. Troubleshoot payroll system issues promptly and collaborate with IT and vendors for system enhancements.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for enhancing payroll operations. Develop best practices and standard operating procedures for payroll processes.
- Compliance and Reporting: Ensure adherence to payroll laws and regulations. Prepare and submit necessary payroll reports and stay updated on changes in payroll legislation.
- Employee Support: Act as the primary contact for employee payroll inquiries, providing guidance and resolving issues professionally. Conduct training sessions for new hires and managers as needed.
- Staff Management: Supervise and mentor payroll staff, conducting performance evaluations and managing workloads to ensure timely payroll processing.
- Audits and Controls: Conduct regular payroll audits to ensure data accuracy and compliance with internal controls. Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll processing and management, preferably in home health care.
- Proficiency with payroll software and systems.
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws and regulations.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to analyze payroll data and resolve discrepancies.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus.
