Job Title: Linux Systems Administrator (Red Hat)

Company: Bowhead

Bowhead is seeking a proficient Linux Systems Administrator (Red Hat) to contribute to our operations. In this role, you will oversee system management and deliver technical support for servers and workstations in a dynamic Research, Development, Testing, and Evaluation (RDT&E) setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leverage your expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux to provide technical troubleshooting and comprehensive consulting for system operations.
  • Implement automated installation techniques and system imaging utilizing tools such as Kickstart and Ansible.
  • Employ cryptographic knowledge to establish a public key infrastructure (PKI) for managing digital certificates and ensuring public-key encryption.
  • Adhere to DISA STIG guidelines and operate within Configuration-Managed Environments.
  • Analyze, design, and implement enhancements to system software to improve performance.
  • Coordinate hardware acquisitions, interact with vendors, educate clients, and collaborate on various projects.
  • Work alongside engineers to utilize workstations and servers for effective problem resolution.
  • Assist with application installations, manage licenses, track software, and back up/recover system configurations and user data.
  • Utilize essential tools for file management, command-line operations, and documentation.
  • Administer operational systems, manage storage, and configure file systems and attributes.
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain systems, manage user accounts and groups, and ensure security protocols are followed.
  • Set up networking services, manage system logging, and automate maintenance tasks using shell scripting.
  • Generate reports on system utilization and establish networking services.
Qualifications:
  • 3-6 years of experience in administering Linux-based servers and workstations.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in RHEL 7/8/9 and foundational networking knowledge.
  • Familiarity with security protocols, tools, and Tenable products.
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, DISA STIGs, and DoD 8570 Information Assurance Workforce standards.
  • Understanding of corporate services such as DNS and SMTP, along with expertise in IT infrastructure management.
  • Experience in environments with rapidly changing priorities, familiarity with Service Now, and IT certifications such as Linux+ or Red Hat are preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Capability to lift weights up to 10-15 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended durations.
  • Perform tasks involving twisting, bending, and squatting as necessary.

Security Clearance Requirements: Candidates must be eligible for and maintain a Top Secret level security clearance. US Citizenship is required for this position.
