- In partnership with Human Resources and Department Heads, conducts orientation for new hires, particularly nursing staff.
- Under the guidance of the Director of Nursing, plans and promotes nursing practice standards.
- Maintains comprehensive documentation of in-service training, including meeting minutes, attendance records, lesson plans, and evaluation summaries.
- Provides monthly activity reports to the Director of Nursing.
- Collaborates closely with the Quality Assurance Coordinator and Safety Committees.
- Works in conjunction with Infection Control, Pharmacy, and Quality Departments.
- Assists in establishing long-term and short-term goals within clinical areas and evaluates outcomes.
- Conducts unit assessments to identify current and future training needs to ensure quality care delivery.
- Supports Unit Nurses in upholding standards of resident care.
- Facilitates communication and collaboration among all members of the resident care team to optimize care delivery.
- Monitors adherence to facility policies related to resident care and safety.
- Regularly inspects Nursing Service areas to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
- Identifies and addresses areas for improvement in service delivery.
- Actively participates in quality improvement initiatives and implements corrective actions as necessary.
- Engages in programs for in-service education and orientation for new nursing hires, as well as ongoing educational opportunities.
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
- Fluency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language.
- Compliance with health standards and requirements set by regulatory agencies.
- Ability to meet general health requirements, including medical evaluations.
- Physical capability to lift, move, or push a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.
- Willingness to perform tasks that may involve exposure to bodily fluids.
- Ability to assist in resident evacuation if necessary.
Required Experience:
- Experience in in-service education.
- Background in pediatrics.
- Experience in long-term care settings.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in acute or long-term pediatric care.
- Familiarity with ventilator management.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Registered Nurse license required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
Note: This position requires pediatric and long-term care experience, focusing on educational responsibilities.
